14 october, 2024

On October 14, on the basis of 51 Kazakh National University, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, a curatorial hour was held on breathing exercises to improve brain function and relieve emotional stress for 1st year undergraduates of the specialty 7M05113-Neuroscience.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize participants with breathing control techniques to increase cognitive activity and relieve emotional stress. The seminar began with a brief introduction, in which the curator spoke about the importance of breathing for the physiological and psychological state of a person. Scientific evidence has been provided on how breathing techniques affect brain function by regulating oxygen levels and lowering cortisol levels in the body.

Further, the participants were offered practical exercises:

1.Deep diaphragmatic breathing. The exercise is aimed at slowing down the breathing rhythm and relaxation. Participants learned the technique of "belly" breathing to relieve tension and improve blood circulation.

2.Rhythmic breathing. The exercise allowed students to form a regular rhythm of breathing and exhalation, which helps to improve concentration and reduce anxiety.

3.Method" 4-7-8". This method was proposed as a means of quickly relieving stress. The participants noted its effectiveness in preparing for relaxation and sleep.

Reflection:

After the practical part, the students shared their feelings. Many people noted calmness after the first workout, an improvement in mood and a decrease in mental stress. Some participants noted that they had never used such practices before, but were ready to introduce them into their daily lives.

The event demonstrated that simple breathing exercises can be an effective tool for managing stress, especially in intensive educational and research activities. The participants were interested in further studies of self-regulation and relaxation techniques.
