A round table "Biotechnological strategies in the fight against hunger"

As part of the implementation of SDG 2 "Eliminating hunger", on October 22, 2024, 13.00 a round table "Biotechnological strategies in the fight against hunger" was held.

The purpose of the event: To discuss the problem of eliminating hunger and the role of biotechnologists in providing food using innovative technologies.

The students prepared a presentation. They talked about the genetic modification of crops, biotechnology to increase the efficiency of food production, the use of biofertilizers and biopesticides, the development of new enzyme preparations for processing agricultural raw materials, the creation of highly productive breeds of farm animals, artificial food, biotechnology in the field of aquaculture, the breeding of new species of fish and seafood with high productivity, the development of technologies for fish cultivation and marine invertebrates in artificial conditions, biotechnology to increase the nutritional value and safety of products, the use of bacterial cultures for food fermentation, the introduction of bioconservation methods to extend the shelf life.

It was concluded that the implementation of these biotechnological strategies in combination with other measures can contribute to improving food security and ensuring more affordable and high-quality nutrition for the population

Decision: Students will contribute to the solution of the food program, in the implementation of SDG 2 "Eliminating hunger".
