Unforgettable impressions about Korea
I am Kozhanbayeva Zere, currently studying Korean at KazNU. 51 majoring in oriental studies. currently studying Korean at KazNU. 51 with a degree in Oriental Studies. It hosts an annual "student exchange" program. However, as we all know, due to the quarantine, this opportunity was interrupted for several years, and some students were not able to fly to Korea. However, in the fall of 2022, the border finally opened and dreams came true. I have never been abroad, but thanks to our faculty and professors, I had the opportunity to visit the “land of morning freshness”. That is why I want to share my experience of living in Korea, which I visited as part of the academic mobility program for students.
I got into Dongguk University in Seoul. First, they told about the surroundings of my university and introduced what is where. Dongguk University also has a "Buddy" program that helps international students live in Korea. That is, this program provides every foreign student with a Korean student and Korean students are helped to get used to life in Korea. My buddy was very kind, helped me in everything he could, showed me different parts of this beautiful country and, of course, helped me get used to Korea.
At the beginning of the semester, every Korean university holds an autumn festival. Dongguk University hosted a big festival where many talented people and popular artists performed. In addition, a K-POP group called ITZY became a special guest of the festival. We all had a good time with good songs and music. In addition, there were many games where various items such as sweets, chocolates, and special dolls could be obtained for free. It was one of the unforgettable days in Korea.
The education system in South Korea is different from the education system in Kazakhstan. For example, in Korea, only lectures are held and we demonstrate our knowledge only at midterms and final exams. Through this experience, I was able to better understand the Korean language. Thanks to this, my knowledge has also increased. Despite all this, the atmosphere in the class was very good and the lessons were very interesting, we even worked a lot in a team, communicated more with foreigners, expanded our skills and outlook.
In addition, we got to know new places in a new country. Enjoyed great city views from Namsan and had a great time visiting popular areas like Myeongdong, Gangnam, Itaewon, Dongdaemun, etc. And one of the main trips was our visit to Busan. I went there with my friend who flew to Korea with me. We were only there for one day, but it was a very interesting experience. We went there by bus. On the way we saw beautiful nature.
So, my life in Korea was very good. I want to thank everyone who helped and supported me during this period. In addition, I am extremely grateful to the Kazakh National University named after 51.
