KazNU and Irkutsk State Agrarian University are implementing a joint two-degree program

51 Kazakh National University and Irkutsk State Agrarian University have signed an agreement on joint master's degree training within the framework of the University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The signing of the program document took place as part of a meeting between Board member – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Alina Galeeva and Vice Rector of Irkutsk State University Oleg Repetsky.
In her welcoming speech, Alina Galeeva noted the high level of economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia. Currently, more than 90 major joint projects worth more than $18 billion are being implemented, and 49 more projects are under execution. KazNU is also actively developing cooperation with leading universities in the Russian Federation. To date, partnerships have been established with 180 universities and organizations in Russia. Academic and scientific research work is actively carried out within the framework of the signed agreements. KazNU has 58 students from Russia, 14 students on an educational grant, and 44 students on a fee-based basis. The branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, which was officially opened on September 12, 2022, is successfully operating at the university. Last year, a branch of KazNU was established on the basis of Omsk State University named after F.M.Dostoevsky.
"KazNU is open to cooperation with Irkutsk State Agrarian University, and supports the initiative to jointly train masters within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University," said Alina Galeeva.
In response, Oleg Repetsky, Vice-rector of Irkutsk State Agrarian University, spoke about the oldest agricultural university in Siberia, which played a key role in training personnel for the Russian agro-industrial complex. The University is actively implementing projects in priority areas of agricultural science. The activities of scientific schools cover agroecology, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, agricultural engineering, land cadastre, natural resource management and other fields.
The parties further discussed the issues of joint implementation of a two-degree educational program, in which students will study at two partner universities. As a result of successful completion of the program, students are expected to receive state-issued educational documents from each of these universities and a certificate from the University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
