The XVII Republican Student Olympiad in Japanese Language Successfully Held

From April 22 to 23, 2025, the Department of Far Eastern Studies at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of 51 Kazakh National University hosted the XVII Republican Student Subject Olympiad in Japanese language, organized as part of the “Oriental Studies” academic program.

The Olympiad brought together 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students specializing in Japanese Studies from various universities across Kazakhstan.

The competition consisted of two stages:

Stage One involved a Japanese language lexical and grammar test, as well as a country studies (stranovedenie) test. All evaluations were conducted using a 100-point scale. The top 10 scorers from this round advanced to the final stage.

Stage Two featured student presentations on the topic "Japan in Global Politics and International Relations." Participants developed their projects using innovative technologies and presented them entirely in Japanese.

The winners of the Olympiad were:

1st Place – Malika Rakhymzhan, student of the Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies, 51 Kazakh National University
2nd Place – Dmitriy Klevtsov and Moldir Oramalova, students of the Japanese Studies Department, Faculty of Oriental Studies
3rd Place – Miras Bekbolat and Riza Rysbakhova, students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at 51 KazNU, and Bekzat Sultangaziyev, student of Abylai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages

We wholeheartedly congratulate all participants and prize-winners who showcased a high level of academic preparation and language proficiency. We believe this event has played an important role in the professional development of future Orientalists and has further inspired students to deepen their study of the Japanese language.
