“Decent Work and Sustainable Development”

On April 17, 2025, the first-year master’s degree students majoring in “7M01704 Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” organized and conducted an open educational hour on the topic: “Decent Work and Sustainable Development” as part of their pedagogical practice. The event was held under the guidance of Kaibuldayeva A.Z, Kontek A. M, Nesipbay G.B, Kalbirova T.N, Rakhymbayev A. Zh at the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, Faculty of Philology, 51 Kazakh National University.
The purpose of the event was to explore the concept of decent work, highlight the interconnection between sustainable development and personal professional growth, and to foster students’ responsible attitude towards issues of social justice, employment, and economic development. In addition, the event promoted critical thinking, communication skills, and broadened students’ horizons.
Various interactive activities were held during the session: participants watched a thematic video, then discussed key concepts and issues related to sustainable development in the format of a ‘mind map’. In a Q&A session, students shared their thoughts on the role of education, decent work, and a sustainable future. The event concluded with a short debate, where participants demonstrated an active civic position and their ability to argue their points of view.
Overall, this educational hour served as an important step in shaping students’ conscious understanding of the global goals of sustainable development and the value of work in human life.
