Farabi University Master’s Students Become Laureates of the Prestigious Eiffel Scholarship!

Master’s students of the Department of Mechanics at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, studying under the dual-degree program “7M05405 – Mechanics and Energy,” Karalina Elizaveta (1st year) and Momysh Nazerke (2nd year), have been awarded the prestigious international France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Program 2025.

Supported by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the program annually selects the best students from around the world. This year, a total of 350 students at the master’s and PhD levels received the Eiffel Scholarship. We are proud to announce that among them are our very own Karalina Elizaveta and Momysh Nazerke, representing the Department of Mechanics at 51 Kazakh National University!

Momysh Nazerke became one of the first students from Kazakhstan to win the Eiffel grant at the PhD level. Out of eight applicants, only two were selected, and one of them is Nazerke! Karalina Elizaveta participated in the master’s level competition through France’s LEMTA research laboratory. Out of 17 applicants, only 8 were selected — and Elizaveta was one of them! This is a major achievement for both the department and the university.

It’s worth noting that in 2024, the first-ever Eiffel master’s scholarship from Kazakhstan was awarded to Alina Abdidin, a 1st-year master’s student from the same department.

The Eiffel Scholarship Program is an international initiative supported by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs aimed at attracting talented foreign students to master’s and PhD programs in French universities. The program provides monthly stipends of 1,250 euros for master’s students and 1,800 euros for doctoral students.

Momysh Nazerke and Karalina Elizaveta are expected to continue their research work under the supervision of Professor Erzhan Kelesovich Belyaev of KazNU and Professor Olivier Botella of the University of Lorraine (France).

This outstanding achievement aligns with several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely: Quality Education (SDG 4), Global Partnerships (SDG 17), and Gender Equality (SDG 5). It is not only a testament to the growing international reputation of our university but also a contribution to the global standing of Kazakhstani science.

We sincerely congratulate our brilliant students and their academic supervisors! This is a significant milestone for the Department of Mechanics and Farabi University on the international academic stage.

Head of the Department of Mechanics, Associate Professor D.E. Turalina.
