A Seminar on “Primitive Cosmological Notions and Geocentrism”

18 april, 2025

April 18, 2025 – At the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of 51 Kazakh National University, a scientific-educational seminar was held for Religious Studies students titled “Primitive Human Perceptions of the Creation of the Universe. Origin of Celestial Bodies. Geocentrism. Emergence of Animals and Plants.” The seminar explored early human understandings of the cosmos, mythological and religious worldviews, and the historical significance of geocentrism. It also offered a scholarly overview of ancient concepts regarding the origin of celestial bodies and the creation of living beings. Presentations discussed differences between early cosmological views and modern scientific perspectives, as well as the interrelation between science and religion. Students engaged in discussions about how ancient beliefs might intersect with contemporary scientific knowledge, thereby broadening their intellectual horizons. Events like this help cultivate historical-scientific thinking and deepen the understanding of the harmony between science and religion.
