On March 13, 2025, a seminar titled “Harmony of Family Values” was held at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of 51���� Kazakh National University. The event was initiated by the Department of Religious and Cultural Studies and focused on the stability and harmony of the family institution from philosophical, psychological, legal, and religious perspectives.

Teachers, master’s students, and undergraduates participated in the seminar, discussing the role of family values, their transformation, and ways to maintain harmonious relationships.

The Importance and Challenges of the Family Institution

Speaker Akan Mergenbai (family expert, psychologist) spoke about the historical significance of the family institution in Kazakh society, its transformation, and the causes of increasing divorce rates. Participants exchanged views on ensuring family stability, strengthening the role of values in raising future generations, and overcoming modern challenges.

Key Issues Discussed by Researchers:

• Changing roles within the family in modern society;

• Youth perspectives on starting a family and underlying reasons;

• Socio-psychological factors of divorce;

• The role of traditional values in strengthening family relationships.

The seminar also addressed measures to enhance young people’s sense of family responsibility and strengthen the family institution.
