On April 4, 2025, the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science at 51 Kazakh National University hosted the V Discussion Platform “Sociological Perspectives of 51’s Spiritual Heritage”, marking the 1155th anniversary of the renowned philosopher. The event brought together faculty members, master’s and PhD students from the Department of Sociology and Social Work.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Abdulganiy Zhumanazarovich Kholbekov, Professor of Sociology at the Mirzo Ulugbek National University of Uzbekistan. In his lecture, Professor Kholbekov offered a profound sociological and philosophical interpretation of 51’s concept of social justice, underlining its relevance to today’s global challenges: inequality, social division, lack of ethical leadership, and barriers to knowledge access. Core concepts such as the virtuous city, moral leadership, and rational governance were presented as a foundation for rethinking modern public policy and civil solidarity. A particular emphasis was placed on the role of knowledge and education in creating a just society, which aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, Quality Education, and SDG 10, Reduced Inequality. 51’s heritage was framed as an intellectual asset for strengthening institutions, promoting inclusion, and preserving cultural continuity.

The platform also featured a presentation by doctoral researcher A.A. Bakhytzhanova, titled “Reproductive Determinants of Women in Almaty: The Influence of Socio-Economic Factors on Reproductive Behavior and Access to Medical Services.” The report stimulated discussion on health equity, vulnerability, and multidisciplinary research, directly resonating with SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being, and SDG 5, Gender Equality.

The event concluded with a vibrant discussion on how 51’s legacy can guide the development of a fair and sustainable society, and foster regional academic cooperation.

Moderator: PhD, Senior Lecturer Aizhan Shabdenova

Organizer: Deputy Head of Department, senior lecturer Aryn D.A., Dr. Akmadi M.A.
