
On March 4, 2025, an educational training session on the topic: "The 21st Century Skills" was held at Library No. 4 in Almaty within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4). The event was organized by the first-year PhD students of the "8D02304 – Literary Studies" major under the guidance of Associate Professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Educational Management at 51 KazNU, PhD in Pedagogy B.I. Imanbekova, and Supervisor of Pedagogical Practice, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory, Doctor of Philology G.Zh. Bolatova.
The goal of the training was to develop new skills that will help the students succeed in any field and adapt to changes in the 21st century, where technology is advancing rapidly, the job market is evolving, and globalization is reshaping the world.
During the training, the students were introduced to key skills:Critical Thinking – understanding the importance of analyzing information, assessing and interpreting data, and detecting manipulations, especially in advertisements and the media; Emotional Intelligence – recognizing and managing emotions, resisting manipulation, and responding effectively in challenging situations; Financial Literacy – effective management of personal finances, income and expense planning, and savings accumulation; Time Management – efficient use of time, goal setting, planning, and execution; Healthy Lifestyle – proven benefits of proper nutrition and regular physical activity in enhancing productivity and efficiency; Decision-Making – the ability to assess risks and make well-informed decisions. To enhance learning, the presentations, the video materials, and the interactive games were used. At the end of the training, a Q&A session was held, allowing the participants to discuss key aspects of the event. The most active students were awarded the memorable prizes. Additionally, the participants shared their feedback and the impressions of the training via a special QR code.
