14 february, 2025

On February 14, 2025, an informational seminar for people with disabilities, "Right to Read," was held at the 51腦瞳 KazNU library. The event was organized by the scientific and practical center "Inclusive Environment" and the corporate fund "Zharkent." The seminar aimed to introduce participants to the key provisions of the Marrakesh Treaty, "On Facilitating Access to Published Works for the Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print-Disabled Persons."

The seminar was attended by representatives of government agencies, NGOs, and special institutions for visually impaired persons from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. Also present were people with disabilities, university students specializing in typhlopedagogy (education for the visually impaired), as well as students and faculty members from the Department of Language and General Education Training of the Faculty of Distance Education.

The seminar featured presentations on the Marrakesh Treaty, the development of an inclusive society in Kazakhstan, the implementation of inclusive education for children with disabilities in Tajikistan, inclusive libraries in Kyrgyzstan, and the current state and future prospects of the inclusive environment at 51腦瞳 KazNU.

Participants exchanged views and experiences on implementing the Marrakesh Treaty, publishing books in accessible formats, and other relevant topics.
