"Prevention of addiction from psychoactive substances and gambling"

On November 13, 2024, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience Yessenbekova A.Y. gave a lecture to the 4th year students of the specialty 6B05108-Biomedicine on the topic “Ludomania is a disease of modern society” within the framework of 3 SDGs with the aim of ensuring a healthy lifestyle and promoting well-being for everyone at any age.
Currently, addiction to psychoactive substances and gambling is a pressing problem. The event was organized with the aim of drawing attention to the issue of ludomania (gambling addiction) and its impact on modern society. Within the framework of the event, discussions were held between teachers and students, during which they discussed the mechanisms of developing addiction to gambling and its consequences for health and social life. Participants explored ways to prevent and treat ludomania.
Additionally, stress management training sessions were conducted, focusing on alternative ways to spend leisure time without risking addiction. Participants were provided with materials about the signs of ludomania, contacts for specialized assistance centers, and self-help resources. The event also featured awareness-raising activities aimed at highlighting the problem and promoting a positive image of a healthy lifestyle.
