THE SPIRITUAL HERITAGE OF AL-FARABI

The great scholar Abu Nasr al-Farabi's works in philosophy, mathematics, music theory, and astronomy, as well as his socio-ethical treatises, played a colossal role in the development of medieval Eastern philosophical thought.

In 1975, UNESCO recognized Kazakhstan as the official homeland of the brilliant native of Otrar. Today, great attention is paid to al-Farabi's legacy in Kazakhstan. Central streets in many cities and one of the country's leading universities are named after him.
