AP15473136 «Innovative multi-spatial integrated approach to biomonitoring of saline ecosystems of Lake Alakol»
The goal: To develop innovative approach to biomonitoring by combination of macroecological methods with remote sensing techniques and GIS databases in representative saline ecosystems of the Alakol lake
Relevance and novelty: Evidence is mounting that inland waters, especially wetlands, are one of the most seriously threatened ecosystems across the globe, leading to the decline of aquatic biodiversity and the disruption of ecological functions and ecosystem services. The most important task of this project as innovation approach is to connect and develop the traditional biomonitoring collecting field data of ecosystems with the modern remote sensing techniques and provide some important technical results with a scientific basis for the development of an innovative monitoring system in the future.
Practical significance: The social, economic, environmental, scientific and technical, multi-complex effect of the project results is that the results obtained can be used as environmental precursors for the quantitative assessment of ecosystem functions and resources of aquatic ecosystems in Kazakhstan.
Project manager: Zarina Inelova, Candidate of Biological Science, Associate Professor
