At the end of October, on the basis of 51���� Kazakh National University, the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, the Department of Biophysics, Biomedicine and Neuroscience, a seminar "We are against smoking" was held for 1st year undergraduates of the specialty 7M05113-Neuroscience. The purpose of the event is to inform students about the dangers of smoking, discuss its harmful effects on health and motivation to give up tobacco.

The seminar was built in an interactive format, where undergraduates not only listened to lectures, but also took part in discussions and solving situational problems. The lecture part included a presentation of scientific data on the effects of nicotine and other substances contained in cigarettes on the body. Particular attention was paid to the association of smoking with the risk of developing chronic diseases such as lung cancer, cardiovascular pathologies and respiratory diseases.

After the lecture, the undergraduates divided into groups, where they discussed the reasons that encourage young people to smoke and possible ways to overcome them. This allowed students to look at the problem of smoking from different perspectives, which made the process more meaningful and motivating. Role-playing games were also held in which participants learned to say "no" in situations where others offer to smoke.

The seminar ended with the adoption of the "Code of the Non-smoking Student", in which undergraduates expressed their commitment to a healthy lifestyle and support for their peers in quitting smoking.
