A fourth-year student of the 51 Kazakh National University's Faculty of Oriental Studies, Mahashov Alikhan Galymzhanuly, attended the SCO Summer School in Shanghai from July 15 to 20, 2022. The summer school brought together approximately 40 students from various member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), including Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summer Courses were organized by the Education Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Government and hosted by the East China Normal University (ECNU). The course curriculum included Chinese language lessons, a series of lectures on topics such as "Shanghai and Shanghai Culture," "SCO," "Modernization in the Chinese Style," and "Chinese Education," as well as excursions to see attractions in and around Shanghai. Additionally, participants had the opportunity to learn about Chinese traditional culture through practical classes in calligraphy, Taijiquan, Baguazhang, and Chinese folk crafts. They also met with representatives from various organizations and public circles in Shanghai.

Kazakh folk songs, "Dudarai" and "Umytylmas Kun", performed by Dimash Kudaibergen, were presented at the opening ceremony of the program, reflecting the creative role of Kazakhstan within the organization's member states.

During the course, one of the most memorable events for students was "Day of Nations", where each country showcased its unique culture. The National Anthem was played on "Day of Kazakhstan", and Kazakh culture and national symbols were celebrated. Their performance was greatly appreciated.

At the end of the course, the students were awarded with special certificates confirming their knowledge. We are proud that Alikhan graduated with distinction from the Summer School for students of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.

The Summer School, held in Shanghai, with its wonderful combination of past and present, Western and Eastern cultures, plays an essential role in fostering cultural ties and promoting integration among SCO member states. This event is of significant importance for our nation in further strengthening our position in the world and region.
