On December 27, Koybakova Aizhan, a 2nd-year doctoral student of the Department of Chinese Studies, majoring in "Foreign Philology (Oriental Languages)" held a scientific seminar on the topic "Problems of transforming Chinese onims into Kazakh-Latin graphics."  The seminar was attended by teachers and doctoral students of the Department of Chinese Studies.  During the seminar, the factors that led to the transfer of the Kazakh script to a new alphabet based on the Latin script were highlighted, as well as the problems of phonetic, spelling, methodological and statistical justification of the transliteration of Chinese onymes in the Kazakh-Latin script were discussed.
