The Center for Sociological Research and Social Engineering (CSR&SE) was established by the decision of the Academic Council of the Kazakh National University named after. 51福利 has been operating since December 24, 2010, based in the Department of Sociology and Social Work of the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science.

The Center is a leading Kazakh research institute specializing in studying the problems of modern education and sociological support of the educational, social, and research activities of the university. The research carried out by the SR&SE Center is of a complex and multifaceted nature and is aimed at obtaining, analyzing, and disseminating information about the state and dynamics of social development and public opinion.

The purpose of the Center is to conduct fundamental and applied research in priority areas of sociological sciences, using interdisciplinary, multidimensional, and contextual approaches in studying the state and dynamics of the development of modern Kazakhstani society.

The tasks of the Center are:

organizing and conducting sociological research on topical issues of the development of modern Kazakhstani society;
organizing, conducting, and scientific and methodological support of continuous monitoring of the quality of educational services of the university and sociological support of activities carried out at the university in the field of quality management, accreditation, and ranking of educational programs;
implementation of the anti-corruption policy of the university, through the assessment of corruption risks and the corruption perception index of various structural divisions of the university;
establishing contacts and developing cooperation with leading foreign and domestic research organizations in the field of humanities and social sciences;
improving the scientific and methodological support of the educational process and the base of practices for the formation of professional skills and forecasting the prospects for the development of sociological research in Kazakhstan;
development of professional and interdisciplinary relations within the al-Farabi Kazakh National University and other regional centers and institutions;
participation in competitions the grant, state-targeted, initiative-private, and sponsorship programs, etc.

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER - Abdiraiymova Gulmira Serikovna - Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work (al-Farabi Kazakh National University), scientific editor, coordinator of the project for the translation of the book by G. Ritzer, J. Stepnisky “Sociological Theory” within the framework of the project “100 new textbooks in the Kazakh language”. Author of more than 250 scientific publications, including a textbook on sociology (co-authored), 8 monographs, 12 study guides, 11 guidelines, 2 electronic study guides, and scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Thomson Reuters/Scopus database on contemporary issues sociology.

Verevkin Aleksey Valentinovich – Leading Researcher of the Centre, Candidate of Sciences in Sociology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Sociology and Social Work. Author of more than 100 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks.

Lifanova Tatyana Anatolyevna - Leading Researcher of the Center, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Philosophy. Author of more than 150 scientific publications, including monographs and textbooks.
