The purpose of the Institute is:
1) scientific support for the development of legal science on the basis of fundamental and applied scientific research;
2) conducting scientific legal expertise of draft laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2.2. The objectives of the Institute are:
creation of authoritative independent scientific schools and directions in the branches of legal and other related (knowledge) sciences;
formation of prerequisites for the recognition of the achievements of the Institute in the world of legal science;
study and identification of the main trends in the development of scientific knowledge in accordance with the profile of the Institute;
conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of legal sciences in accordance with the achievements and trends in the development of world science;
implementation of scientific forecasts with the subsequent development of a strategy for scientific research in their theoretical and applied parts;
active promotion of the practical use of the results obtained;
discussion and recommendation to print completed research papers;
discussion and recommendation for public defense of manuscripts of doctoral and candidate dissertations;
participation in the development and examination of draft laws and drafts of other regulatory legal acts, legal documents;
coordination of research activities with other research institutions and universities, assistance to them in conducting research and training scientific personnel according to the profile of the Institute;
application in accordance with the established procedure for the assignment of academic titles;
establishing direct links with other scientific organizations and enterprises;
implementation of international cooperation in the field of research and development;
assistance to 51 Kazakh National University in the formation and growth of scientific and pedagogical personnel;
strengthening and developing scientific and creative ties with leading universities and scientific institutions in the main areas of research;
other tasks arising from the activities of the Institute that do not contradict the Charter, internal acts of the 51 Kazakh National University and the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
