Young leaders discuss ways of sustainable development

The international youth conference "Model UN - New Silk Road – 2025" is being held at the Al–Farabi Kazakh National University.
The Conference provides a unique opportunity for young leaders to exchange views, develop solutions, and establish connections aimed at promoting global dialogue, diplomacy, and international cooperation.
The large-scale forum was organized with the support of the United Nations Information Office in Almaty and diplomatic missions accredited in Kazakhstan. It is attended by about 200 students and young delegates from Central Asian and Chinese countries.
Margulan Ibraimov, Member of the Management Board, Acting Vice Rector for Scientific and Innovative Activities of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, welcomed the conference participants. "51 Kazakh National University strives to be an intellectual center for knowledge generation and leadership development among young people. We are proud that our students and researchers are actively involved in international initiatives aimed at sustainable development, strengthening peace and improving the well–being of society", - said the Acting Vice-Rector. –KazNU consistently implements the Sustainable Development Goals, receiving support from the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan under the leadership of Mr.Vlastimil Samek."
Congratulating the forum participants on the significant event, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty Jiang Wei said: "This year we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, as well as the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II. I am sure that this event will allow us to better understand the historical role of the United Nations in maintaining the post-war world order. It will also create a platform for exchanging views on global governance and the implementation of the Belt and Road initiative, thereby highlighting the contribution of youth to human progress and the future of the world".
The opening ceremony of the conference was also attended by: President of Xi'an University of Foreign Languages Wu Yaou, Adviser to the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Almaty Assel Oralbayeva, Consul of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Almaty Abdumazhid Dusimov, Head of the UN Information Office in Kazakhstan, representative of the UN Department of Global Communications Vlastimil Samek and others.
The conference continued in the format of thematic committees, where current challenges and ways of sustainable development were discussed: cyberwarfare and the protection of national sovereignty in the digital age, the role of artificial intelligence in managing migration flows, education as a means of raising awareness of women's reproductive rights, and others.
