“Fostering Interethnic Tolerance”

11 april, 2025

On April 16, 2025, the Faculty of Philology and World Languages of 51 Kazakh National University hosted an educational event on the topic:  "Fostering Interethnic Tolerance", dedicated to the themes of peace, respect, and cultural diversity in modern society.
The event was initiated and organized by the  first-year master’s degree  studentimajoring in  “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages” — Gulistan Ilhamkyzy Abdullayeva. The academic advisor of the project was Master of Humanities, Senior Lecturer Tolkyn Ordabekovna Konyrbekova.
The  event was held in an atmosphere of open dialogue and mutual understanding, uniting second-year students who are striving to recognize the importance of interethnic harmony in Kazakhstan — a country where representatives of more than 130 ethnic groups live in peace.
The main focus of the event was to cultivate students' understanding of tolerance as respect for cultural differences and to emphasize the value of peaceful coexistence for societal development.
During the event, participants explored the multiethnic map of Kazakhstan, discussed the causes of interethnic conflicts and ways to overcome them, and engaged in interactive activities and creative projects aimed at promoting friendship and mutual respect.
Particular interest was sparked by the group activity “Bridge of Friendship”, in which students explored the unique features of various cultures living in Kazakhstan and identified shared human values that unite different peoples.
In concluding the event, the organizers emphasized that interethnic tolerance begins with a personal choice — to be open-minded, to respect differences, and to strive for mutual understanding.
The event made a meaningful contribution to the development of students’ civic consciousness, the strengthening of intercultural communication, and the cultivation of peace and harmony in Kazakhstani society.
Organizers: The First-year master's degree  student G.I. Abdullayeva and Senior Lecturer T.O. Konyrbekova.of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, Faculty of Philology.
