鈥淶humatai is the Sovereign of Poetry鈥�
On April 28, 2025, within the framework of SDG 4 "Quality Education", a literary evening on the topic: “Zhumatai is the Sovereign of Poetry” was held at Student House 鈩�17, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Kazakh poet and KazNU graduate Zhumatai Zhakypbayev. The event was organized by the Department of Kazakh Literature and Literary Theory of the Faculty of Philology.
From the first moments, the literary evening was imbued with a special atmosphere of subtle emotion and creative inspiration. The concert hosts shared new and interesting facts about Zhumatai Zhakypbayev’s life and work, revealing his unique place in the world of poetry. A special video composed of his heartfelt poems was shown, immersing the audience in the poetic universe of the author.
During the event, the third-year students recited some of the poems, such as “Layla”, “My Layla”, “Saraton”, and “Koktemgi hattar” written by the poet. The artistic features and emotional nuances of each poem resonated deeply with the students’ own heartfelt experiences. The image of Layla, Zhumatai’s eternal muse, her delicate emotions, and confessions of love—became the core theme of the evening.
The artistic part of the event continued with the performance of Kazakh traditional kui. The beautiful melodies played by talented students vividly conveyed the natural essence and delicate soul of the Kazakh people as celebrated in Zhumatai’s poetry. One of the highlights of the evening was a small quiz for the students. The audience was presented with engaging questions about the poet's life and works, and the most active participants received awards. This moment added a special dynamic to the evening, blending knowledge with emotion.
At the conclusion of the literary evening, students and graduate students emphasized that through Zhumatai Zhakypbayev’s poetry, they experienced spiritual purity and sincerity, and that his work represents a valuable cultural heritage and an inspiration for future generations. This evening offered a wonderful opportunity to embrace the world of Kazakh poetry and to feel a true love for literature. Through Zhumatai’s heartfelt verses, rays of beauty and emotion reached every heart.
