The 51 Kazakh National University hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Humanities in the Age of Digitalization: advantages and Disadvantages of artificial intelligence", dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Pre-university Education.

The purpose of the event is to analyze the development of the humanities in the era of digitalization, the differentiation of new opportunities and the lack of artificial intelligence technology.

The event was attended by renowned scientists from Kazakhstan, Poland, Ukraine, France, the USA, Turkiye, Japan and other Asian countries, university professors, representatives of research institutes and students.

Congratulating the faculty staff on their 40th anniversary, Member of the Board of 51 Kazakh National University, Acting Vice Rector for Science and Innovation Margulan Ibraimov noted: "Today, digital technologies penetrate deeply into all spheres of society and determine the direction of its development. Especially the humanitarian industry is facing new opportunities and challenges of the digitalization era. In this context, our university was allowed to use artificial intelligence for dissertations and scientific articles, indicating the platforms that have been used since last year. Our university has developed a special regulation on this", - said the vice–rector.

"Today's scientific event is not only a solemn meeting dedicated to the anniversary, but also an important platform for joint consideration of the prospects for the development of education and science in the context of digital transformation", - said Spatai Sartaev, Dean of the Faculty of Pre–University Education.

During the meeting, the scientists also exchanged views on the place of digital transformation in the humanities, the new possibilities of artificial intelligence (AI) and its limitations. In addition to the disadvantages of AI, threats did not go unnoticed at the conference. The scientists noted the limitations of machine algorithms in understanding the deep content and context of humanitarian research. It was also argued that artificial intelligence cannot completely replace human intuition and the ability to understand cultural and historical contexts.

At the end of the event, the participants came to the conclusion that the humanities and artificial intelligence should develop and complement each other. It was noted that in the future, based on this interaction, new methods and projects in the field of digital humanities will be created.
