On April 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., as part of the implementation of SDG 4 "Quality Education", an excursion to the Main Botanical Garden of Almaty for students of the 1st  year, specialty "Biotechnology" was organized by professor of the Department of Biotechnology. S.D.Atabayeva.

The purpose of the event is to expand students' knowledge of plant biodiversity, form an ecological culture, and develop interest in botany through observing rare, exotic, and native flora in the natural and artificially created conditions of the Botanical Garden.

During an excursion to the Main Botanical Garden of Almaty, students got acquainted with the rich biodiversity of plants collected both from the territory of Kazakhstan and from various climatic zones of the world. The students saw tree and shrub plantings, where rare and endangered species of trees and shrubs, including endemics of Kazakhstan, are represented; a greenhouse complex in which students got acquainted with tropical and subtropical plants, including palms, cacti, orchids and ferns.

In the center of the Botanical Garden, the Chanticleer Calleri Pear is blooming, in the form of an elegant arch, which is a real decoration of the garden. The students admired the blooming magnolias, enjoyed the delicate scent of lilac, the first greenery and the chirping of birds created the perfect mood for a walk. In Botanical Garden, students watched swans in a picturesque pond.

The tour promotes the development of observation, scientific thinking and environmental responsibility among students, deepening their interest in exploring the natural world.
