The Faculty of Physics and Technology at KazNU is considering launching a dual degree program with the University of Lorraine (France). SDG 4 and SDG 17

24 april, 2025

A working meeting was held at the Faculty of Physics and Technology to discuss the possibility of launching an international dual bachelor's degree program in Physics in collaboration with the University of Lorraine (Université de Lorraine) — one of France’s leading institutions in science and engineering. The project is being developed in partnership with the university’s Faculty of Science and Technology (Faculté des Sciences et Technologies, FST): .

The meeting brought together representatives of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, the University of Lorraine delegation, the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, Vice-Deans for Academic and International Affairs, and heads of departments.

The discussion focused on key aspects of the joint program:

  • the structure of the curriculum with mutual recognition of subjects and credit transfer;

  • the study model for students across both institutions;

  • academic and language requirements for applicants.

The University of Lorraine is an active participant in the Erasmus+ program and is among the top European universities with a strong engineering and science education system. Its FST faculty offers Kazakhstani students access to cutting-edge laboratories, English-taught modules, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

KazNU’s Faculty of Physics and Technology already has extensive experience in international education projects and seeks to expand its academic mobility and dual-degree offerings in line with the university’s strategic priorities.

Expected outcomes of the collaboration:

  • opening a new pathway for training professionals with international qualifications;

  • expanding academic opportunities for students;

  • increasing the global competitiveness of KazNU graduates;

  • fostering scientific and educational exchange between Kazakhstan and France.

The program contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: expanding access to international learning opportunities;

  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: strengthening international academic cooperation.

Details about the program launch, selection criteria, and application procedures will be announced in due course.
