"Republican Subject Olympiad among Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Specialty of Translation Studies (Korean Studies)"

On April 24, 2025, the Department of East Asia at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University named after 51 organized the traditional Republican subject Olympiad among universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the specialty of “Translation Studies (Eastern Languages - Korean Language).” This competition brought together the best students from universities who demonstrated their knowledge of the Korean language and the fields of "society and culture."

The goal of the Olympiad was to enhance students' knowledge and skills in translation, develop their creative abilities and scientific inquiry, identify talented students, and provide them with support.

This event was organized with the aim of enhancing students' translation skills in the field of translation, as well as perfecting their mastery in translation.

The Olympiad was attended by 2nd to 4th-year students majoring in "Translation Studies" from the Kazakh National University named after 51 and the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Ablai Khan.

The chairman of the commission, Professor of the Department of Eastern Philology at the Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages named after Ablai Khan, PhD Jang Ho Jong, as well as the faculty members of the Department of East Asia at the Kazakh National University named after 51, wished the participants nothing but victory. The competition program consisted of two stages: written and oral translation tasks, as well as the presentation and defense of a video material.

As a result of the Olympiad, the winners and prize winners were awarded special diplomas and certificates of encouragement. The Olympiad became not only an intellectual competition but also a unique platform for exchanging experiences and professional development for young people eager to study the culture of Korea more deeply.
