Teacher is a great name: Anniversary of Professor U. U. Abylkairov

16 april, 2025

If we speak about the outstanding individuals who have forever inscribed their names in the history of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, the conversation would be endless. Among them, a special place belongs to our professor and distinguished scholar — Undasyn Utegenovich Abylkairov. Throughout his life, he has tirelessly worked for the advancement of national science and education, and he remains active to this day. He has lectured on subjects such as mathematical analysis, complex variable function theory, generalized functions and their applications, Sobolev space theory, elliptic equations, Navier–Stokes equation theory, compactness and monotonicity methods in mathematical physics, and functional methods for solving boundary value problems in mathematical physics. In addition to teaching, he has been actively involved in scientific research in these fields.

There is a saying among our people: “A scholar without labor is like a flame without heat,” but this saying does not apply to our esteemed mentor, who is now celebrating his 75th birthday, because he has never ceased to work diligently. As evidence of this, more than 70 scientific publications authored by him have been published in both domestic and international journals. Yet, his work goes beyond just articles — it includes the education of numerous students. Among them are those who are now advancing national science: A. Tañirbergenov, S. Aitzhanov, Kh. Khompysh, A. Abiev, D. Akhmed-Zaki, and K. Shamshidenov — all of whom were mentored by Undasyn Utegenovich. Our mentor taught his students not only science but also ethics, serving as a living example of high moral standards. In this context, the words of D. Mendeleev come to mind: “All the pride of a teacher lies in his students, in the growth of the seeds he has sown.” The achievements of his students are undoubtedly a source of pride and honor for him.

On this occasion, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to our mentor on his 75th anniversary! May your immense contributions to science and education be forever remembered by future generations. We wish you good health, family well-being, and continued success in your endeavors!

Allow us to conclude with the words of Mukhtar Auezov: “Teacher is a great title!”
