International Scientific and Educational-Methodological Conference on Information Security Held at KazNU

On April 21–22, 2025, 51 Kazakh National University hosted an International Scientific and Educational-Methodological Conference on the topic "Problems, Challenges, and Trends in the Field of Information Security", organized by the Department of Cybersecurity and Cryptology.

The event was held at the 51 Library and the Faculty of Information Technology, bringing together leading scholars from Germany and Kazakhstan, as well as university instructors, researchers, and specialists in information security.

The official opening of the conference was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Shynar Zhenisbekovna Musiraliyeva, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics, Head of the Department. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Olzhas Nurkonysuly Turar, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, and the event organizers.

Keynote presentations were delivered by:

  • Prof. Gollmann Dieter (University of Hamburg, Germany) on “How to Navigate the Changing Information Landscape and Ensure Quality Control in Research Activities”;

  • Prof. Joachim Posegga (University of Passau, Germany) on “Digital Security and the Destructive Nature of Artificial Intelligence”.

Speakers from KazNU and other institutions presented research on vulnerabilities, phishing, cryptographic protection, and cyber threats in social media.

In the afternoon, two parallel sessions were held:

  • Session 1 – “Methodology and Technologies of Cybersecurity Education” (moderator: Zhanar Medetbek);

  • Session 2 – “Modern Cyber Threats and Protection Tools, Cryptology” (moderator: Medet Shaizhat).

The speakers shared research findings on topics such as aggression detection in social media, phishing threat identification, tools to counter destructive content among youth, cryptographic analysis, and the application of machine learning in cybersecurity.

The conference served as an effective platform for exchanging experiences, presenting scientific developments, and discussing current challenges in digital security, cryptography, and cyber culture.
