SDG-11,13: "Bicycle Day" Held as Part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" Environmental Campaign

On April 20, 51 Kazakh National University held "Bicycle Day" as part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" environmental campaign. The event aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), aiming to foster environmental awareness among students and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Students, faculty members, and staff of KazNU actively participated in the event. On this day, the university community gave up personal vehicles in favor of eco-friendly alternatives such as bicycles, scooters, and walking. Participants joined a city bike ride to show support for sustainable urban mobility.
During the event, students took part in informational sessions highlighting the health benefits of cycling and its role in improving urban ecology. Participants shared their personal experiences and joined challenges aimed at promoting environmental awareness and culture.
KazNU leadership emphasized the importance of such initiatives for sustainable development and noted that environmental events like "Bicycle Day" are becoming an integral part of the university’s culture. Through its "Green Campus" project, the university continues to implement sustainable environmental practices, including energy saving, waste sorting, green infrastructure, and environmental education.
Through "Bicycle Day," KazNU youth demonstrated their environmental responsibility and civic engagement. This initiative will continue in the future, contributing to the formation of ecological consciousness and the sustainable development of society.
