The 51 Kazakh National University hosted an international forum on "Digital Tourism in Kazakhstan – 2025".
The participants discussed the digital transformation of the domestic tourism sector, the role of government and business in this area, and suggested ways to improve tourism services. The discussions also addressed the use of artificial intelligence and Big Data to personalize travel services and create creative routes.
The large-scale event was organized jointly by the National Company Kazakh Tourism, the Pana Asia Group of companies and the 51 Kazakh National University.
The forum was attended by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev, Chairman of the Board of KazNU – Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Kazakh Tourism Daniel Serganuly, CEO of the "Pana Asia" Group of companies Saule Zhanabayeva, as well as company executives and experts from Russia, Uzbekistan and other countries.
Opening the forum, KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that today tourism has become an important part of not only the economy, but also the digital transformation of society. "President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted at the fourth meeting of the National Kurultai: "Our task is to present Kazakhstan as an independent part of the world civilization. Tourists need to provide services that meet international standards." Virtual tours, mobile apps, and digital navigators are actively used all over the world. This helps not only to show the sights of the state, but also to get complete information about its history and culture. "In this context, KazNU scientists have developed the Tourismkaz mobile application. It allows users, using their mobile phones, to see the beautiful places of Kazakhstan through 3D tours and receive the necessary services. The University will continue to successfully train qualified and professional staff for the development of the tourism sector", - said the rector.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Yerkinbayev said that the TravelStan mobile application, which combines many resources and services in the field of tourism, will be launched before the end of the year. Its main functionality is an artificial intelligence–based assistant that will help tourists book hotels, buy tickets, find guides and routes, as well as order taxis and other services in one digital space.
"The issue of digitalization of tourism is under special attention of the government. Every step of a tourist coming to our country is associated with a certain digital resource. Each service, such as obtaining information, applying for visas, buying flights and booking hotels, has its own digital solution. However, there are still unresolved issues. At today's event, we will consider ways to solve current problems", - Yerzhan Yerkinbayev stressed.
The forum included interactive question-and-answer sessions, a presentation of a new digital platform for tourism, workshops and workshops, panel discussions, and an exhibition of startup projects. At the end of the event, the startup authors who proposed promising digital solutions for the development of domestic tourism were awarded.
