Young scholars at the Faculty of International Relations discussed migration issues in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals

A roundtable titled “Theoretical and Practical Aspects of International Migration in the Context of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the Role of Kazakhstan” was held at the Academic regional resource center for information support about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of al-Farabi KazNU

 

 

The roundtable focused on discussing and analyzing the theoretical and practical aspects of international migration in the context of SDGs 4, 5, 8, 10, and 17. Young researchers of the Faculty of International Relations presented their studies:

          •           Bibinaz Alman – PhD candidate, young researcher specializing in educational migration and the SDGs;

          •           Asyl Tungysheva – 1st year PhD student of the Faculty of International Relations, 51 KazNU;

          •           Ammar Habibi – 2nd year Master’s student of the Faculty of International Relations, 51 KazNU.

 

Denis Zhivaga, Director of the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law, served as the main discussant. He highlighted the relevance and significance of the research, shared his professional experience, and proposed access to the Bureau’s electronic resources to support the development of young scholars’ work.

 

Legal commentary was also provided by Zhulfiya Mazhitovna Baimagambetova, Deputy Head of the Department of International Law for Research and International Cooperation. Dr. Syrym Parpiev, PhD, senior lecturer at the Faculty of International Relations, gave a theoretical overview of the research presented, focusing on the use of modern migration theories and innovative research methods. The roundtable was moderated by L.F. Delovarova.

 

All participants emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in ensuring safe and regular migration.
