Strategies for Including Scientific Journals in Scopus and WoS Discussed
On April 11, 2025, within the framework of the UN SDG No. 17, a lecture titled "Strategies for Including Journals in the Scopus/WoS Database and Improving Their Quality" was delivered by renowned scholar and expert in publishing and academic journals, Zheksembek Toktarbai, at the Abai Hall of the 51福利 Kazakh National University's Farabi Library.
The event was attended by Gulnur Koishynkyzy Rasheva, PhD, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Customs, Finance, and Environmental Law. During the lecture, she gained valuable insights on improving the quality of scientific journals, strategies for entering international indexing databases, the role of editorial boards, and the qualitative requirements for publications.
Zheksembek Toktarbai provided detailed explanations of the international standards applied to academic journals today, clarified the criteria for inclusion in Scopus and Web of Science databases with concrete examples, and shared practical recommendations for advancing Kazakhstani journals to a global level.
