Meeting with Peter Strausz, a Hungarian researcher, PhD, Director of the Research Institute and Archive of the History of Political Regime Change (RETÖRKI).
On March 12, 2025, the Republican Research Center for the Study of Traditional Civilizations of Central Asia, together with the Department of History of Kazakhstan, the Faculty of History, 51 Kazakh National University, held a meeting with Peter Strausz, a Hungarian researcher, PhD, director of the Research Institute and Archive of the History of Political Regime Change (RETÖRKI).
During the meeting, Dr. Peter Strauss presented the activities of the Scientific Research Institute, which is engaged in the scientific analysis of the history of Hungary and Europe in the 20th century, especially the era of the Cold War, the change of the social regime and its prerequisites. The funds of the Archive at the Institute include personal collections of important figures who participated in the change of the Hungarian regime and anti-communist emigration. He noted the importance of approaching history from a social, political, legal and economic perspective, due to the complexity of the processes taking place in the modern world. The Institute publishes the quarterly journal «Journal of Regime Change» in Hungarian and English, which regularly publishes socially and scientifically significant articles and important materials from the Institute's archival documents.
An exchange of views took place on the implementation of joint comparative studies – Kazakhstan and Hungary/Eastern Europe. A decision was made to publish articles by teachers of the Faculty of History in the quarterly journal «Journal of Regime Change» at the Institute in English, to organize online lectures by Hungarian researchers on the history of Hungary and Europe in the 20th century for students, master's students and doctoral students.
At the meeting, the head of the Department of History of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Karibayev B.B. noted the importance of international professional collaborations, contributing to the expansion of knowledge about the recent historical past, the formation of reliable ideas. Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Khabizhanova G.B. noted the prospects for joint projects, scientific conferences, internships for young scientists to train qualified frames. The event was also attended by lecturers of the Department of History of Kazakhstan: Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Kozybakova F.A., Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Dzholdybayeva U.M., PhD, senior lecturer Koshymova A.O., senior lecturer Bizhanova M.K., PhD, senior lecturer Arinov A.G., senior lecturer Mensitova G.I., as well as students and undergraduates of the Faculty of History.
