On March 28, 2025, the Department of Pre-University Training hosted an educational and awareness-raising event titled “Eradicating Poverty – An Essential Prerequisite for Societal Development” with the participation of ethnic Kazakh students who arrived from the People’s Republic of China.

  During the event, an in-depth discussion was held with students on the meaning of poverty, its root causes, its connection with social injustice, and the measures taken by the government to combat poverty. In their statements, students noted that poverty is not merely a lack of income, but also a lack of access to quality education, healthcare services, and limited social opportunities.

Many participants emphasized that eradicating poverty is first and foremost a matter of social justice, not only economic development. In the course of the discussion, students drew attention to ongoing social reforms in both Kazakhstan and China, particularly those aimed at improving living conditions in rural areas.

The discussion was rich and heartfelt. Referring to examples from both countries, the students acknowledged that poverty is a global issue, yet its solutions depend largely on each country’s internal potential, development of human capital, and the strength of its education and healthcare systems.

Several key ideas were expressed during the dialogue:

- First and foremost, access to quality education and professional skills is essential to overcoming poverty;

- Improving financial literacy among youth is one of the effective long-term strategies;

- Volunteering, local community initiatives, and support for small businesses help prevent poverty.

At the conclusion of the event, the students demonstrated a high level of civic awareness and social responsibility. They expressed their readiness to become professionals who will serve society and contribute to strengthening social justice and equality in the future.

It is encouraging to see that a generation is emerging among today’s youth that is compassionate, committed to social justice, and capable of critical thinking. Events like this play a vital role in shaping civic values and fostering an active and caring attitude toward pressing social issues.
