The delegation from Russia got acquainted with the achievements of KazNU

Representatives of the Office of the President of the Russian Federation for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries visited 51 Kazakh National University.

The delegation included Anton Rybakov, Deputy Head of the Department, and Alexey Vlasov, Director of the Department.

The guests of honor were met by Chairman of the Board – Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev, who familiarized them with the achievements of the university. First, the guests from Russia visited the KazNU Museum, immersed in the history of the university.

Then the delegation members visited the Kazakh-Chinese joint laboratory "Technology and Application of Remote Sensing" at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management. Scientists' research here focuses on environmental monitoring, natural resource management, and adaptation to climate change. To solve problems such as drought, land degradation and water scarcity in Central Asia, the laboratory's specialists use drones to collect satellite data and conduct field research.

Anton Rybakov and Alexey Vlasov also got acquainted with the activities of the most powerful supercomputer in Central Asia, installed on the basis of KazNU. The supercomputer cluster opens the doors for the training of qualified specialists in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence. The performance of the supercomputer is 2000 teraflops. It is one of the 600 best supercomputers in the world.  The architecture consists of more than 400 Intel Xeon 6330N server processors.

During the working trip to KazNU, the guests from Russia visited the Farabi Library and the newly built "Farabi Hub" Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects. Here, the members of the delegation were shown innovative projects developed by KazNU scientists.

The guests also got acquainted with the scientific results of the Center for Scientific Research of Medicinal Plants, the Brain Institute, the Center for Forensic Expertise, the Center for Engineering Competence in Industrial Robotics and Robotics, and the University in the fields of biology, chemistry, and physics.
