In order to achieve SDG 5 "Ensuring gender equality and empowering all women and girls", teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology, together with 1st-year students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management, held a round table on the ZOOM platform in online format on the topic "Modern trends in the formation of the image of women in the context of the development of society"
The purpose of this round table is to discuss topical issues of women's self-determination in Kazakhstan and Russia.The study of state policy towards women in Kazakhstan and Russia, the identification of trends in the development of social and governmental women's movements in the two countries, the formation of students' respectful attitude towards a girl as a future mother, and the discussion among students of the two countries about the possibility of realizing women both personally and professionally.
The round table was attended by teachers Balgabekova R.N., Karabayeva B.N., Tsyganova V.A., Abdinazarova S.Zh., Madieva Z.K., teachers and students of the Volgograd Institute of Management, a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. The event was moderated by R.N. Balgabekova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Foreign Languages, who provided brief information on the key objectives of the round table. Ph.D., Associate Professor Stepanova E.V., responsible for the International Activities department at the Volgograd Institute of Management, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Senior lecturer at the Department of Linguistics and Intercultural Communication of the RANHIGS VIU, moderator of the event, O.N. Antimonova, professionally organized group communications for a joint project of Kazakhstani and Russian students.
The students prepared and presented presentations on the complex social problem of our time – the causes and consequences of the formation of the image of women in Kazakhstan, Russia and around the world, and specific measures to overcome this problem. At the end of the presentation, the students took part in a discussion on the relevance of such contradictions as: "What does a woman choose – motherhood or a career? Is it possible to combine these hypostases in the modern world?", they asked questions on these topics, expressed their thoughts and actively participated in the discussion. As a result, topical issues about the role of women in modern society were discussed and summarized.
As part of this event, an exhibition of drawings "We are against domestic violence" was organized. The purpose of this exhibition is to stop the spread of domestic violence against women and children, as well as to draw public attention to this problem. The participants of the exhibition expressed their unacceptable attitude to domestic violence through their creativity.
