Depression and ways out

4 march, 2025

Emotion is one of the forms of self-report of the brain that has existed since ancient times. Emotion manifests itself thanks to the action of neurotransmitters, primarily serotonin, norepinephrine, melatonin, adrenaline, on special receptors in the brain. The absence or excess of interactions between receptors causes certain disorders of emotions. Often, the cause of depression is a hormone deficiency caused by prolonged fatigue.

The manifestation of depression is a persistent low or depressive state of mind, accompanied by inhibition of movement, a slowdown in mental activity and a significant decrease in self – criticism. It is characterized by sleep disorders, for example, when a person wakes up at 3-4 O'clock in the morning. Inhibition in the affective sphere is characterized by a loss or significant weakening of positive emotions, the predominance of melancholy, anxiety, fear, irritability and apathy, as well as unwillingness to live with unusual manifestations. In this case, suicidal tendencies can also occur.

The main symptoms of depression are: persistent low mood for no apparent reason (one to two weeks); slow thinking and instability of attention, which interferes with work, life; movement retardation; as well as constipation, significantly impair a person's health.

The term of depression can last from a week to a year. According to its course, there are the following types: hidden/masked: invisible to everyone from the outside, and a person feels it), light-level (it becomes heavier to study, work), medium-level (it cannot work), heavy-level (lying in bed).

The ways out of depression will depend on its types. Ways out of it require the use of comprehensive measures. Latent and mild types of depression have the ability to help ourselves and get rid of depression. To do this, it is necessary to perform the following actions as a condition: four meals a day in a small volume: the volume of water consumed per day should not be lower than 1.5 liters, since with depression the body becomes dehydrated, the food should be rich in protein, which affects the formation of hormones. Vegetables and berries should make up at least 30-40 percent of the diet. Often it is desirable to have home food.

In depression, self-care is a burden, and many people end up drowning. But it is better not to give up treatment, in order to get rid of depression, it is important to shower as often as possible and be sure to wear light-colored clothes.

Depression reduces a person's interest, making life feel like it has stopped. Nevertheless, it is necessary for a depressed person to self-force himself to go out for a walk in the fresh air (for a minimum of 1-2 hours) so that oxygen reaches the brain in full. When you exercise, move, muscle work produces the hormone acetylcholine and improves brain function. Listening to good melodies, classical rhythmic melodies will also help.

When we are healthy we usually like to take photos, when we are depressed it is of great importance, every time we look at the photo the mood of that moment returns to us and contributes to a better situation. When you feel depressed, you should definitely see the happy moment photos more often, this is of great help.

It is dangerous to be alone during Depression, it is advisable to be among relatives, friends, colleagues if possible. A person naturally feels good about the social environment. This is considered very important in one of the methods of psychotherapy: it is very important for the depressed person to evaluate and emphasize their inner feelings. For example, it is worth making a verbal comment, such as" now I feel sorry for myself, otherwise I am not in the mood to talk to someone". When a person emphasizes his feelings, his attitude to the disease is corrected, he strives for healing. If these noted actions do not give significant relief during the week, you should definitely see a doctor.

Unfortunately, most of the time we suspect inappropriately and try to get out of this lack of emotion on our own. In mild forms, a person feels a change in himself, looks critically, but is in no hurry to go to the doctor. The easiest way out of depression is to turn to a psychotherapist, psychiatrist for treatment. In modern times, an advisory medical card is filled out, a person is treated in the same way as a normal somatic clinic, and is not put on the dispensary list. Also, the doctor will provide detailed information about the entire treatment, get consent to treatment. The drugs recommended by a modern psychotherapist, psychiatrist who treats depression do not lead to addiction, but help the patient to recover in a short time. In severe depression (in case of lying down), if not moderate, it is possible to make an appointment only with the treatment recommended by a psychiatrist.
