Gamification is a tool for engaging and motivating students in class.

On February 11, in accordance with the 4th point of the TDO - quality education, teachers of the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics awarded 2nd-year students of the specialty "Geodesy and Cartography".
The initiator of this event, senior teacher of our department O.Zh.Taukebaev, gave a lecture on the subject "Geoinformatics" for this group last semester. Throughout the semester, gamification tools were used to motivate students to participate in classes.
Currently, gamification is used in education to solve real problems using game elements and techniques, in particular, to engage students in active learning by using game elements to solve non-game problems, as well as to activate their participation in solving applied problems.
To do this, teacher O.Zh.Taukebaev set two conditions for the students and set the following tasks for them:
1. Draw a good map in ArcGIS during the learning process.
2. Give up social networks for 1 month.
The students who fulfilled these conditions and became the best were pleased with valuable prizes by the teacher.
Head of Department A.A. Asylbekova: "We are always interested in such events being held more often, in order to teach them advanced trends in education, so that young specialists can become qualified professionals, and we are open to any cooperation." "By exerting a positive influence on young specialists, we can further develop the field of education," he noted.
This event will undoubtedly become an important step in the development of the education system, aimed at creating an interesting and effective learning environment.
