Developing sustainable infrastructure is a key challenge in modern logistics

Throughout history, the foundation of civilization has been strong infrastructure and a powerful industry. If we look at the past, we can see that all developed countries first advanced their industries while simultaneously fostering science and technology. This idea is reinforced by German economist Klaus Schwab, the author of The Fourth Industrial Revolution, who stated: “Innovation and sustainable development are the key drivers of the future economy.” Today, this principle is more relevant than ever.
In this context, on February 12, 2025, the Department of Business Technologies at the Higher School of Economics and Business organized an event on the topic “Building Sustainable Infrastructure, Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Industrialization, and Fostering Innovation” for first-year master’s students specializing in “Logistics (by industry)”. The event was led by Doctor of Economic Sciences Madina Unaibekovna Beisenova, and aligned with the ninth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the United Nations (UN).
During the event, students shared their thoughts on modern approaches to developing sustainable infrastructure and their potential application in Kazakhstan. They presented their proposals for developing industrial zones, introducing environmentally safe transport, and reducing the environmental impact of industrial facilities.
This event allowed master’s students to gain a deeper understanding of global trends and recognize the importance of sustainable development. Sustainable infrastructure and industrialization are not only the foundation of a country’s economic strength but also a key factor in improving the well-being of its people.
The Higher School of Economics and Business at 51 Kazakh National University plans to continue organizing educational events to enhance students’ and master’s students’ knowledge of sustainable development principles.
