On February 11, 2025, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Almaty organized a grand celebration of the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival (元宵节). The event took place at the Abai State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater under the theme “Welcoming the Spring Festival with Warmth: Let’s Celebrate the Chinese New Year Together”, bringing together numerous honored guests, including representatives of organizations cooperating with China.

The Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies at 51福利 Kazakh National University, Natalia Borisovna Em, along with faculty members, attended the celebration. On behalf of the university, she congratulated the Chinese side on the Spring Festival, highlighting the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of science and education.

Speaking at the event, the Chinese Consul General in Almaty, Ms. Jiang Wei, emphasized that China-Kazakhstan relations have entered a “golden era” and expressed confidence in their continued development.

The highlight of the evening was a spectacular concert program featuring stars of Kazakh and Chinese pop music. Guests were captivated by performances from professional dancers, circus artists, magicians, and musicians playing traditional Chinese melodies, creating a truly festive atmosphere.
