In 1989, the Faculty of Oriental Studies opened departments for Arabic, Chinese, and Persian languages. Thus, for the first time in our country, Persian began to be taught at the university level. That same year, 8 students were admitted to the Iranian Studies department for philology and 9 students for history. Perhaps because they were the first graduates, most of them continued working in their field and achieved significant career success.
One of them is Zhanar Adilbekova Assetkyzy. Over the years, her professional career has included: 1994-2005 – Official employee of the National Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran, "IRAN-AIR", 2008-2010 – General Director of LLC "Amirabad Grain Terminal Kish", 2012-2015 – Official representative of Iran’s largest private airline "MAHAN-AIR" in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, 2011-2018 – Lead agent in the "Complaints," "Passenger Services," and "Customer Service" departments of Kazakhstan’s airlines "Bek-Air" and "Kazakh-Air", 2018-2022 – Lead specialist in the International Cooperation Department of the State Corporation "Government for Citizens". Since 2022 to the present – Lead specialist in the project department of LLP "Irkaz Metal Corporation".
Over these 31 years, Zhanar Assetkyzy has built her career starting from Iranian airlines and is now continuing in a joint Iran-Kazakhstan company. Her career path demonstrates that Oriental Studies is not a narrow or limited field and that our graduates can work successfully in various sectors of the economy.
