Organizing Scientific Collection Work: Experience Exchange with the A. Kasteyev Museum of Arts

As part of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 "Partnerships for the Goals," staff members of the Abish Kekilbayev Mangystau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore are undergoing scientific internships and professional development at the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Museology of the Faculty of History at 51 Kazakh National University.
During the internship, an experience exchange session on "Formation and Organization of Scientific Collection Work" was held under the guidance of S.Zh. Kopzhanova, Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs of the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts. The main goal of this session was to improve the quality and effectiveness of scientific collection work in museums.
In her lecture, S.Zh. Kopzhanova outlined the key principles and methods for preserving, systematizing, and researching museum collections. Additionally, issues of managing museum collections and integrating them into scientific research were discussed. Information was provided on modern methods and technologies for digitizing exhibits, systematizing data, and ensuring public access to cultural heritage.
During the experience exchange, museum staff had the opportunity to gain deeper insight into all stages of scientific collection work, including cataloging, documenting, storing, and researching exhibits. This internship allowed museum workers to enhance their professional skills, apply new approaches in preserving museum collections, and make a significant contribution to promoting cultural heritage.
