"Save Water"

28 october, 2024

On October 24, 2024, within the framework of SDG 6 "Clean Water and Sanitation" on the topic of the "Save Water" campaign, an event of the Department of Biodiversity and Bioresources was held with the participation of students of the "Biology" specialty. The purpose of the event: to teach how to save and conserve water, giving an understanding of the importance, necessity and benefits of water for human life.

Every year, the world celebrates World Water Day. Water covers two-thirds of our planet. Without water, our life is impossible. Water is the simplest and most mysterious substance on Earth. Scientists have not yet fully revealed all of its secrets. Water is more important to humans than food. A person can live without food for about six weeks, but it is impossible to live without water for more than a week.

The environmental holiday "World Water Day" is designed to remind humanity of the importance of water resources, the need for their rational use and conservation of the planet's water reserves. Traditionally, in honor of this day, our university holds the "Save Water!" campaign. Water is essential for the life of every person, but its wasteful use can lead to harmful consequences, one of the most dangerous is the disruption of the ecosystem balance. Excessive consumption of fresh water leads to a decrease in its volume and deterioration in quality. Irrational use of water in the future can lead to its shortage. Already now, according to the World Health Organization, more than 2.3 billion people experience a shortage of clean drinking water. Moreover, 122 million people are forced to drink untreated water from surface water bodies. In addition to environmental reasons, there are also economic ones. A careful attitude to water allows you to save your own money. Even small changes in the use of the resource can significantly affect the budget. Therefore, saving and protecting water is our duty!
