The Exhibition of photographs by teenagers – graduates of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Kazakhstan 2024

Associate Professor of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Evidence-Based Medicine, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Ussatayeva G.M. was invited to the opening of the Exhibition of photographs by teenagers – graduates of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Kazakhstan 2024 Academy in the Main Botanical Garden. This summer, 18 Kazakhstani teenagers aged 15-17 were trained by the world-famous photographer and naturalist Klaus Nigge. The exhibition featured their first works in photographing wildlife. All photographs were taken in Almaty and nearby locations – the Kimasar Gorge and Lake Sorbulak. Wildlife Photographer of the Year Kazakhstan 2024 is a project of the Natural History Museum of London in collaboration with the British Council and the Urban Forum Kazakhstan Public Foundation. The goal of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Kazakhstan 2024 Academy is to teach teenagers an ethical approach to wildlife photography, environmental protection, and the basics of photography. The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by the Director of the British Council in Kazakhstan Robert Taylor, the head of public programs of the Natural History Museum Alexandra Birch, National Geographic photographer Klaus Nigge, and the manager of Wildlife Photographer of the Year Kazakhstan 2024 Gemma Ward. After the opening ceremony of the Exhibition, Usatayeva G.M. discussed with the organizers and participants the issues of ethical attitude to nature and bioethics.
