Deans receive training in strategic management
A strategic management training program for faculty deans has been launched at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The training is conducted by an experienced expert in the field of management and strategy, a well-known business coach Kaysar Makan.
The three-day program is aimed at strengthening the strategic competencies of the deans and developing their managerial skills. The main goal is to provide support in the qualitative development of strategies for the development of faculties for 2026-28.
During the training, participants will master modern management approaches, determine the directions of faculty development, and form clear goals and a KPI system. They will also prepare strategic plans and roadmaps, and in practice they will study management tools such as teamwork, motivation and control.
The program consists of three stages. In the first module, the deans will learn the basics of strategic thinking, trends in education, and the use of analysis methods such as SWOT and PESTE. At the second stage, they will consider the design of a strategy, the formation of a system of goals and the development of a three-year roadmap. The third module will focus on managerial skills, team building, providing feedback, employee motivation, and effective management mechanisms.
Kanat Auesbai, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism, noted:
– The main purpose of the training is to form an effective collaboration between deans, strengthen business cooperation, as well as a deep understanding of the university's values and strategy, and master the skills of their development and implementation. Despite the fact that we are familiar with the general essence of strategy, this program teaches us how to systematically build its structure. In addition, we master modern methods of working with stakeholders and comprehensively analyze the development directions for the integration of business, science and production. In this regard, the training has a high practical value.
Upon completion of their studies, each dean will prepare a comprehensive strategy for the development of their faculty and will be ready to present it to the university leadership. The document will reflect the targets, ways of their implementation and specific tasks.
This event is aimed at updating the management culture of KazNU and bringing the strategic development of the faculties to a new level.
The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Ualikhan Akhatov, shared his opinion.:
– I would like to thank you for organizing this course for deans. The program significantly contributes to the improvement of our professional qualifications. We get acquainted with the important prerequisites for the development of the strategic plan of the faculty and master modern and effective methods of team management. New approaches to increasing the activity of teachers and students, as well as to managing the psychological climate at the faculty, are also presented. In addition, we have the opportunity to consider new ways to analyze current achievements.
