27 november, 2025

The Chairman of the Board, Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev, met with a member of the Upper House of the Parliament of Pakistan, Senator Ms. Zarqa Suharwardi Taimour at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The talks were devoted to strengthening cooperation in the fields of education, science, cultural exchange and joint research initiatives.

The parties discussed the current relations between KazNU and the scientific and educational community of Pakistan. The University currently cooperates with leading educational institutions, including the universities of Karachi, Lahore, Punjab, Quaid-E-Azam, as well as with the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. COMSATS, being an international organization uniting more than twenty countries, continues to be an important platform for joint initiatives in the field of science and sustainable development. KazNU operates the Center for Climate and Sustainability on the basis of this structure, which implements international research on a global scale.

Special attention was paid at the meeting to the establishment of the Al-Farabi Center at Quaid-i-Azam University. It is expected that the center will become a multifunctional platform for developing humanitarian dialogue, holding scientific conferences and promoting al-Farabi's ideas in the global academic space.

It was also noted that the Faculty of Oriental Studies has a department of the Middle East and South Asia, which trains specialists in the languages and cultures of the region. There is also an Urdu department and the Muhammad Ali Jinnah Center, established with the support of the Embassy of Pakistan, is successfully operating here. The Center has become a platform for cultural exchange, academic events and the promotion of Pakistan's rich heritage.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for a new stage of partnership. The Rector presented initiatives aimed at expanding humanitarian cooperation, intensifying exchanges between experts and invited lecturers, as well as supporting and developing the Al-Farabi Center in Islamabad.
